2.4 Overview of generic access profile features
The Generic Access Profile (GAP) defines a number of features which are mandatory and others that
are optional. The mandatory implemented features in the DCT1800-GAP system are indicated with
Y (yes) and the proprietary implemented optional features with E (see tables
1 and 2).The optional
features that are not implemented are indicated with N (no). The description of some of the features
is detailed in chapter
6.
The mandatory and optional features are applicable for the network (NWK), data link control (DLC),
medium access control (MAC) and physical (PHL) layers

. The network layer contains features that
are of interest to the user of the portable part (air interface) and features that are related to the radio
exchange and/or telephone exchange.
For information about features that are completely handled within the DECT layers, e.g. antenna
diversity, please refer to the DECT CI standard ETS 300 175, parts 1 to 9.
