Chapter 2 Visual inspection and tests
2.1 Visual inspection
Visual inspection consists of checking the LEDs on the system boards and the availability of all system
boards and base stations.
2.1.1 LEDs on the system boards
Check the following LEDs:
1. On the CPU board only the upper-most green LED (LED1) must be on. LED 6 blinks periodically
according to the setting of the ACK test (see section ‘Maintenance’ in this manual).
2. All green LEDs on all other system boards must be on.
3. Red LEDs must be off. In certain situations a red LED on the DTU board can be on; in this case
LED5 on the CPU board is also on: see paragraph
2.1.2.
4. If LED4 on all the system boards in cabinet 1 are off, but are on all boards in another cabinet, it
may be due to the number of cabinets not having been set to the correct number in the cordless
system manager software.
2.1.2 Availability of all system boards and base stations
With the help of the system menu of the cordless system manager software the status of the system
boards and base stations can be checked. All hardware/peripherals must have the AVE (available)
status. However, for the DTU, CLU, CLU-S and SLU board the following exceptions may be applicable:
• DTU board
A DTC that is not connected to the PBX must have its corresponding L1 with the status NEW and
L2 with no status indication (LED4 is on).
• CLU, CLU-S and SLU board
Peripherals (CLC) that are not connected to base stations must have the status PNP (Possibly
Not Present). Peripherals with initialized (delay value specified) base stations must have the status
AVE. A CLC with a not initialized base station has the status NEW causing LED4 of the CLU,
CLU-S or CLU-S part of the SLU board to be on.
2.2 Radio coverage verification tests
2.2.1 General
The radio coverage verification consists of two tests:
• Base station test
• Area coverage test
Note:
Be sure that all batteries in the cordless phones are charged before executing the tests.
2.2.2 Base station test
The purpose of this test is to check if all base stations are operational.
