22.2 Installation
CLU, CLU-S or SLU to MDF
1. Connect the plug of the longer
1
of the two CLU/MDF cables (REX-CAB9001 (TSRNB 101 29) or
the long cable REX-CAB9006 (TSRNB 101 46)) to the upper connector of the rightmost CLU,
CLU-S or SLU as shown in figure
87.
2. Connect the plug of the shorter of the two CLU/MDF cables (REX-CAB9001 (TSRNB 101 29) or
the long cable REX-CAB9006 (TSRNB 101 46)) to the lower connector of the rightmost CLU,
CLU-S or SLU.
3. Screw the shielding clamp of the longer of the two CLU/MDF cables to the rightmost free position
on the ground strip using two M3 x 10 torx screws delivered with the modular cabinet.
4. Screw the shielding clamp of the shorter of the two CLU/MDF cables to the next rightmost free
position on the ground strip.
5. Connect both CLU/MDF cables to an MDF starting with the shortest (cable pair 1 of CLU/MDF
REX-CAB9001 (TSRNB 101 29) or REX-CAB9006 (TSRNB 101 46)) (see table
5).
Note:
To meet the EMC requirements, the cable should never be cut to a length shorter than 2.5 m.
Cabling MDF to base station
The cabling to the base station has to be connected to the MDF. Refer to the section ‘Configuration
directions’ for the cable type to use.
The CLU/MDF cables only contains one Express Powering Pair (EPP). When more than one EPP
has to be used, more pairs have to be connected to the EPP pair on the MDF.
1. Measure the distance from plug to ground strip.
WARNING
If base station cables go outside the building the system must be pro-
tected from lightning strike by surge arresters.
Connect 90 V gas-filled surge arresters on the MDF between every wire
and ground.
In the USA the arrester must be UL approved.
