20.2.3 Modular cabinet powered by an external 48 Vdc power supply
When the modular cabinet is powered by an external 48 V power supply, base station power can be
supplied to the CLUs/CLU-Ss/SLUs in the following ways:
To maximum 3 CLUs/CLU-Ss/SLUs via the backplane
To maximum 7 CLUs/CLU-Ss/SLUs via the PW-EXT connection of the MCCB
The advantage of powering via the backplane is that the base station is switched off when the modular
cabinet is switched off by the switch on the cabinet.
When combining both methods, a maximum of 8 CLUs/CLU-Ss/SLUs can be provided with base
station power. Eight is the maximum number of CLUs/CLU-Ss/SLUs in a modular cabinet. When using
these combined methods you need an extra cable like the power cable TRENB 101 01. The cable
can easily be made by yourself. This method is not described, but can easily derived from the other
powering methods.
Base station power supplied to a maximum of 3 CLUs/CLU-Ss/SLUs via the backplane
Figure 80 gives a schematic diagram of this configuration. Figure gives the cable diagram of this
configuration.
