8. Option: mounting and connecting the extra directional antenna (18.5.12).
9. Securing the power cable (18.5.13).
10. Final check (18.5.14).
18.5.3 Planning the system configuration
Planning the system configuration involves:
• Finding the right place to mount the BS370
• Determining how many BS370s are necessary for the required traffic capacity
Placing the BS370
Standard conditions for base station placement apply, as for BS330 and BS340. The BS370 must be
placed such that it is not surrounded by large metal objects (e.g. large heating pipes). The BS370 has
the same coverage area as the BS340.
The BS370 can be mounted vertically or horizontally. The BS370 can be fixed to a wall, a ceiling, a
pole or a beam, by means of the mounting bracket included. When fixing the BS370 to a wall or ceiling
the included plugs and screws must be used. When fixing it to a pole or beam, a strap or a flexible
metal band must be used (not included).
Note:
When using the mounting bracket, the BS370 cannot be mounted with the antennas pointing
downwards. The mounting bracket does not support this.
Distance between BS370 and host base station
• When no external antenna is used for communication with the host base station, the BS370 can
be placed anywhere in range of the host base station.
In a building the maximum distance between BS370 and host base station is approximately 30 m.
In the open field the maximum distance can be much more, up to 300
m. The maximum distance
between BS370 and host base station depends on the precise situation. Factors are the material
of walls and floors, the position, size and material of intervening objects, the position of the BS370
and host base station etc.
• When the directional single antenna (NTM/KRENB 101 118/1) is used as extra antenna to
communicate with the host base station, the maximum distance between external antenna and
host base station is 1000
m. The typical radiation patterns of this antenna are as shown in
figure 49.
