Chapter 11 Speech Link Unit (SLU) – REX-BRD00015 and

REX-BRD00026

11.1 General

The SLU is a combination of an SPU-S and a CLU-S on one board. The CLU-S part is used to control

base stations via twisted pair cables with a length of maximum 2.1 km. For longer cables (up to 3.5

km), the CLU with product code REX-BRD0014 (ROFNB 157 11/2) must be used.

Power distribution to the base stations is protected by two PTCs for each base station (see figure 30).

Maintenance

The SLU contains the following field-exchangeable parts (see figure 29):

• SPU-S board controller firmware

• CLU-S board controller firmware

11.2 Board description

Jumpers

Not applicable.

Connectors

The CLU-S part has the following connectors at the front:

• 8 connectors (CLC1 - CLC8) by which the Cell Link Circuits (CLCs) are connected to the base

stations

• 1 connector (base station power) to connect a power supply voltage from the connection board

for powering the base stations when no AC-adapters are used. The power connector does not

have a polarity. It makes no difference which pin becomes plus or minus.

LEDs

SPU-S part:

LED1 : Normally on. Power on LED SPU-S

LED2 : Normally off. Watch-dog LED SPU-S (not significant)

LED3 : Normally off. Board not polled LED SPU-S

LED4 : Normally off. Board error LED SPU-S

CLU-S part:

LED1 : Normally on. Power on LED CLU-S

LED2 : Normally off. Watch-dog LED CLU-S (not significant)

LED3 : Normally off. Board not polled LED CLU-S

LED4 : Normally off. Base station in NEW state or board error CLU-S
