Chapter 3 Installation steps
3.1 Introduction
Paragraph 3.2 describes the recommended board positions. This paragraph should be read before
starting any installation.
Paragraph 3.3 describes the main steps of installation and the order in which they should be carried
out. It can be used by inexperienced engineers, but also by experienced engineers as a reference or
check-list. Each step refers to a chapter where more information can be found.
Paragraphs 3.4 and on, contain installation procedures which are not related to specific units described
in other chapters.
3.2 Recommended board positions
Below, recommendations are given for the system board positions. These rules are given to avoid
crossing of cables and to ensure sufficient length of the dedicated cables.

Note:
Due to a minimum required power consumption from the DC/DC convertor, at least two system boards
must be placed in each modular cabinet.
CPU
The CPU is always placed at the leftmost position in the cabinet. In a multi cabinet configuration the
CPU must be placed in cabinet 1 (refer to figure
4 in chapter 4).
