8.6 Recommended coax cable
At the end of the 1 meter coax cable that is fixed to the non-standard antenna is a an MCX type. In
case you need additional coax cable the following is recommended:
8.7 Distance between antennas
Theoretically, the distance between the two antennas should be more then half a DECT wavelength.
Another aspect is the physical dimension of the antenna. This means that larger antennas should be
placed further apart then small ones, this to avoid the shadowing effect.
Field tests have shown that for antenna type 1 a distance of 5 m or more is recommended. Antenna
type 2 has two antennas at a fixed distance.
8.8 General installation remarks
1. Avoid sharp bends in the coax cable.
2. Make sure that antennas and coax cables are suitable for outside use.
3. Use good quality coax cable with a minimum loss.
4. Connections outside must be made water-tight by using self vulcanising (rubber) tape. Next use
electrical tape to block out direct sunlight on the vulcanising tape.
5. Lightning protection is advisable if non-standard antennas are used outdoors. Surge protection
circuits can be placed on top of the base station antenna connector.
