To make a system configuration you must:
1. Know the limitations of the system (see chapter 2).
2. Know the customer requirements for the coverage area (see chapter 4). Non-standard antennas
can be used for special requirements (see chapter 8).
3. Know the number of base stations. The required number of base stations can be found by doing
a site survey (see chapters
3 and 4).
4. Calculate the number of CLCs (Cell Link Circuits) based on the number of base stations. The
number of CLCs, together with the cable lengths, define the power requirements for the power
supply and the number of SLUs, CLUs and/or CLU-Ss to be used. Base station powering is
discussed in chapters
5 and 5.
5. Know the number of cordless phones, estimated traffic generated per cordless phone and the
Grade Of Service (GOS) accepted by the customer. These figures will define the number of SPU-
Ss that are required. Traffic requirements are explained in chapter
6.
6. Calculate or obtain the other parts of the system. When the amount of each system board is
known, the connection boards, the number of cabinets and power supplies, internal cables etc.
can be calculated (see chapter
7).
