Cable Connections to Other Devices
With a PC, you can use Windows Terminal (included with Win-
dows software) or another terminal emulation program. Refer to
the documentation that comes with Windows for more informa-
tion. Use the following parameters to connect to the hub:
❏ 9600 baud
❏ 8 data bits
❏ N (no parity)
❏ 1 stop bit

Settings
Figure 9 on page 20 and Figure 10 on page 21 show the required
DIP switch settings for the NMM Lite in five configurations.
In the first out-of-band configuration, the AsantéView Manage-
ment Station (AMS) is connected to a hub or hub stack using one
of the hub’s AMS Link ports and an AMS Link Extender. In the sec-
ond, the AMS is directly connected to a hub using the hub’s RS232
connector and a straight-through RS232 cable. The third configura-
tion shows a remote AMS connected to a hub over telephone lines
using the hub’s RS232 connector and a modem.
