Setup Guide
The back panel, shown below, contains: A 12VDC jack for (optional)
emergency power; the primary power bay cover plate; the on/off
switch; and the primary power outlet.
1.5 Management and Configuration
A network administrator can manage the switch with three different
methods: web, console/telnet, or SNMP software. They may prefer
using a web browser to enable configuring the switch from any local
or remote computer, via the network, or they may wish to use a
console for out-of-band management. The switch’s default IP ad-
dress is 192.168.0.1 and the default password is Asante (the pass-
word is case sensitive and must appear exactly as it is shown here).
SNMP is an advanced management application, and is mostly auto-
matic, giving the information without having to go through an inter-
face step-by-step (Note: The switch is shipped with BootP support.
See Appendix F BootP Configuration of the User’s Manual for more
information on setting up BootP.)
1.5.1 Console Interface
Users can access the switch in a more traditional way by connect-
ing a PC or terminal to the console port or by telnet across the net-
work. The menus are organized in a manner similar to the web-
based interface. A detailed description can be found in Chapter 3
Configuration of the User’s Manual (CD-ROM.)
Note: By default, the HTTP server is disabled. In order to manage
the switch through the web interface, the HTTP server function must
be enabled via the console interface.
