To create a watched folder:
1. Open Adobe Acrobat.
2. From the menu bar, go to ‘Plug-ins> ARTS PDF Aerialist Professional >
Productivity > Batch Processing > Watched Folders’ to open the Watched
Folders dialog.
3. Click “New”. You will now be taken to the Edit Watched Folder dialog.
4. For Sequence, select the name of the sequence you wish to execute.
5. For Base Folder, browse to the folder that will have subfolders: input, error,
busy, done and output. The input folder will hold the files you wish to process
and the output folder is where processed files will be placed.
Note: If subfolders do not exist, they will be created during runtime. Unlike the Batch
Processing feature, the input watched folder does not initially require files to be within
the folder to start running.
6. Click “OK” to accept the changes.
The following options are also available when creating a watched folder:
• Advanced…
An advanced option where you can specify the exact path of the input, error,
busy, done or output folder.
• Prefix
Text within the textbox will be appended to the start of the output filename.
• Suffix

• Save File(s) As
Output file(s) will be saved as the file type selected. The available options are
Adobe PDF File, Encapsulated PostScript, JPEG Files, PNG Files, PostScript

CSS 1.00, JPEG2000, Microsoft Word Document, Text (Plain) and XML 1.0.
• Overwrite if file exists
Overwrites any existing file that has the same filename as the output file. If
not selected, an underscore and a number will be appended to the output
filename e.g. _1, _2, _3 etc.
• Optimize for fast web view
Optimizes the PDF so when downloading the document from a web server it
will be downloaded a page-at-a-time.
• Logging enabled
A log file, found within the output folder, will log the success or failure of each
processed file.
