Solid Wood Care
Our Solid Wood pieces have a hand-rubbed oil finish, a more permeable and less intrusive
finish. This finish allows the grain and tactility of wood to show thru, thus creating a more direct
connection than the often-used varnish. Sealed and varnished wood is wrapped in a
protective, artificial barrier, which limits and negates while protecting our engagement with the
wood.
Our oil rubbed finish will allow the wood to behave and age naturally. This finish requires a bit
more to maintain than if it was just hermetically sealed in a synthetic wrapper. We believe
products should age and wear with grace and beauty. Allow them to develop nicks and
scratches, thus gathering mementos of its life and interaction with you. Please limit the wood’s
exposure to direct sunlight. If water is left standing, spots can occur but should dissipate over
time.
Daily Care: We recommend using a premium natural daily wood cleaner similar to Wood for
Good from Method Home www.methodhome.com. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasives.
Special Care: Depending on your home’s environment and the piece’s use, we recommend
using the Howard’s Feed-N-Wax provided in your ARTLESS CARES kit. We use it around
once a month, but as often as once a week.
When your wood looks a tad opaque, apply as instructed and let it work its magic. We love this
product- apply in moderation, a bit can go along way. Your skin requires lotion, why not your
beautiful natural wood? Feel free to share it with your other wood products.
