INTRODUCTION: Thanks for purchasing Applied Research and Technology’s XPATCH. The ART XPatch Three Channel XLR Balanced Patch Bay is a deceptively simple, yet surprisingly useful addition to any serious collection of audio equipment. A patch bay organizes your cables and provides a convenient, easily accessible central location to make all of your audio connections. It also saves wear and tear on the connectors of your audio equipment because all connections are now made and changed at your patch bay.
FEATURES: • Three channels of balanced direct signals • High quality passive interface • XLR connectors (female on front, male on rear) • All connections made via reliable PCB wiring • Rugged extruded aluminum case
USING AN XLR PATCH BAY: Although the ART XPatch, like all patch bays, is conceptually a simple device, it is worth a small investment in time to familiarize yourself with a few of the many ways in which it can be used. The most basic use for the XPatch is to extend connections from the back of audio devices that are hard to reach using XLR cables to the back of the patch bay. From the front, you can then patch these connections to any place you want.
For larger installations you may want to consider our rack mount P16 Sixteen Channel XLR Balanced Patch Bay, but try to include several (within reason) patch bays along an audio signal path (both inputs and outputs) so that rerouting, patching in temporary sound sources and sending signals to temporary output devices can be done without connecting and disconnecting cables directly to and from your devices, like console inputs and outputs.
