This exam ple is an open wireless net work. I f you are going t o connect to an AP with
security prot ect ion, you will have t o configure t he encrypt ion set tings in this profile
to be corresponding t o your AP. Please click on the “Ne t w ork Aut hent ica tion”
drop list to select an aut henticat ion m et hod, and then select a “Dat a encryption”
type. Fill in each required blanks and click “OK”.
Tip: Windows XP and Windows 2000 users is also allowed to connect t o your
wireless net work w it h the “ RT-Set ” setup wizard. Please refer t o “Appe ndix ” for
m ore inform at ion.

N ote: This m anagem ent inst ruct ion uses Windows XP as the presum ed operat ion
system . Som e funct ions are not supported in Windows 98se or Windows ME.
Starting the Wireless LAN Utility
You m ay click on the t abs above to configure this adapt er. The checkboxes below
provide t he follow ing funct ions:
Show Tray I con
Check t his checkbox t o show t he utility icon on your
system tray, which is in the not ificat ion area at the
lower-right corner of the windows deskt op. You m ay
also uncheck it to rem ove t he utilit y icon fr om syst em
tray.
Radio Off
Check t his checkbox t o prevent this adapt er form
transm itt ing or receiving signals. Uncheck it to
com m unicat e.
Disa ble Adapter
Check t his checkbox t o disable this wireless adapt er.
Uncheck it to enable t his adapt er again.
