NOTE:Youshouldalwaysrotatetheclevisuntilthepinisperpendicularwiththecontrol
horntoensurethepinisnotunderanyexcessiveload/pressurewheninsertedinthe
holeandduringoperation.Insomecasesitmaynotbepossibleto‘exactly’centerthe
surfacemechanicallywhileproperlyaligning
thepin.Inthesecasesbesurethepinis
properlyalignedthenadjustthepositionofthetrimlever(orsub‐trim)slightlyas
needed.Also,itwilllikelybenecessarytomakefurtheradjustmentstothepositionof
thetrimleverduringflightasmostsurfacesdonot
endupinexactlythecentered
positionwhenanairplaneistrimmedproperlyforactualflight(but‘centered’isstillthe
beststartingpoint).
Iftheelevatorisangledupwardcarefullyremovetheclevisfromthecontrolhornand
screwit‘in’(clockwise)onehalftoonefullturntheninsertthepinbackintothe
outermostholeinthecontrolhorn.Or,iftheelevatorisangleddownwardcarefully
removetheclevisfrom
thecontrolhornandscrewit‘out’(counter‐clockwise)onehalf
toonefullturntheninsertthepinbackintotheoutermostholeinthecontrolhorn.
Viewthehorizontaltailandelevatorfromthesideandcontinueadjustingthe
length/positionofthepushrod/clevisuntiltherudderisproperlycentered.
IMPORTANTNOTE:Iftheyarenotalreadyinstalledwestronglyrecommendinstalling
theincludedflexiblecleartubing‘cleviskeepers’toprovideaddedsecurityforthe
clevises.Typicallyyoucanslidethekeeperoverthecleviswhenit’snotconnectedto
thecontrolhorn.Then,afterconnectingtheclevisto
thecontrolhornand‘snapping’
theclevistogetheryoucanslidethekeeperintoapositionthatdoesnotallowitto
‘bind’againstthecontrolhornduringmovementofthesurface.
