Installing ARCView
The ARCView Mesh Management Software is used to configure and manage a MetroE mesh
deployment. It should be installed on a workstation that will be connected to the MetroE mesh as
follows:
1. Install the software from the Arcwave website or from the CD-ROM included in the package.
2. Set the workstation’s IP address.
3. Connect the workstation to one MetroE node in the mesh.
Workstation Requirements
• Operating systems supported: Windows 2000/XP, Linux, Solaris, and FreeBSD.
• Java 2 Platform, Standard Edition, version 1.5 or later. This is available for downloading
from www.java.com/
• 1.0 GHz, 100% Pentium 4-compatible processor or later
• 256 MB of Random Access Memory (RAM)
• 50 MB of hard disk drive space
• 10/100 RJ45 Ethernet network interface
Install the Software
You can install the ARCView software from the CD-ROM disc included in the product package or
download the latest version from the Arcwave website. The instructions below describe how to
install the software onto a workstation.
1. Insert the installation CD into your CD drive
2. A Java installer applet will prompt you through the process. Follow the instructions to
download the software and save it on your workstation.
3. When prompted to select an installer, select the appropriate installer. If you are using
Windows, click on the Start Installer for Windows… button. If you are using a different
operating system, download the appropriate installer and follow the instructions provided
at the bottom of this screen. When a dialog box appears to ask where you want to save the
software, specify the desired location on your workstation and click on the Save button.
4. When the Installation of ARCView screen is displayed, click on the Next button.
The license agreement is displayed.
