ì Click on Apply to confirm your entry.
This activates the passphrase. Fields Key 1-4 are filled automatically (with
encryption using WEP 128 only Key 1).
The plain text display of the passphrase is replaced by a row of stars.
ì With WEP 64: In the Default Key field, enter one of these four keys with which data
transmission on your PC is to be encrypted.
Creating keys manually
You can enter up to four keys in fields Key 1 to Key 4. These keys are used to decrypt the
data your PC receives from the WLAN. The maximum length of the keys entered is
determined by the settings in the fields Encryption and Key Type.
ì In the Key Type field, enter the character format for creating Keys 1-4:
Hex
The keys are entered as hexadecimal numbers. You can choose from hexadecimal
digits 0 to 9 and A to F. The maximum length is 10 characters for WEP 64 and
26 characters for WEP 128.
ASCII
You can use any ASCII characters for the key. The maximum key length is
5characters for WEP 64 and 13 characters for WEP 128.
ì Enter the character sequences in fields Key 1 to Key 4.
ì In the Default Key field, enter one of these four keys with which data transmission
on your PC is to be encrypted.
ì Click on Apply to confirm your entries.
The keys are activated. The plain text display of the keys is replaced by a row of stars.

This function is only available if the option Use Passphrase has been
deactivated.

Remember that all the connection partners must use the same key for
encryption.

As keys 1-4 are shown in plain text during entry, you should heed the
following:
u For security reasons, unauthorised persons should not know the keys
and so they should not be able to observe you entering them.
u As the keys are shown in masked form after acceptance, you should
make a note of your keys 1-4 and store them in a secure place.
