Configuring the Gigaset USB Adapter 54

Encryption
ì In the Encryption field, select the required encryption method. The setting in
Authentication determines the available encryption methods:
none
No encryption activated.
WEP 64 (only available for 802.1x)
The wireless transmissions of your Gigaset USB Adapter 54 are coded with
64-bit encryption as per the WEP Standard (Wired Equivalent Privacy).
WEP 128 (only available for 802.1x)
The wireless transmissions of your Gigaset USB Adapter 54 are coded with
128-bit encryption as per the WEP Standard (Wired Equivalent Privacy).
TKIP (only available for WPA-PSK)
The wireless transmissions of your Gigaset USB Adapter 54 are coded with
TKIP encryption.
ì Then generate the Keys required for encryption:
Generate the keys automatically with the option Use Passphrase.
OR
Create the required Keys manually.
Generating keys with a passphrase
For encryption, you can use a passphrase from which the required keys are generated
automatically.
ì Activate the option Use Passphrase.
This activates the appropriate entry field.
ì In the Use Passphrase field, enter any sequence of characters as the passphrase.
You can enter up to 30 characters.

Remember that all the connection partners must use the same
passphrase for encryption.

As the passphrase is shown in plain text during entry, you should heed
the following:
u For security reasons, unauthorised persons should not know the
passphrase and so they should not be able to observe you entering it.
u As the passphrase is shown in masked form after acceptance, you
should make a note of your passphrase and store it in a secure place.
