2. For Better Airflow, Keep Velocity and Resistance Low

Velocity is the speed air moves through a filter. The

larger the media area, the lower the velocity. The

lower the velocity, the lower the resistance. The

result: better airflow.

Everyone has held back water flowing from a hose

with their thumb. It increases pressure and creates

more velocity to the stream of water. Restrictive

undersized filters are like a thumb on the HVAC

system’s airflow. They increase pressure and create

more velocity–an HVAC system’s nightmare.

The pleats on an AprilAire filter create more surface

area. This lowers resistance and velocity which results

in better airflow and increased system performance.
