Depending on how large the log files are on the system, ‘Select All’ can create a larger file than

necessary. Deselecting ‘Select All’ will enable the ‘Start Date’ and ‘End Date’ sections (see

Figure 37), which will tell the system to collect information only between the given certain date

range. This will almost always create a smaller file, but is usually much slower because it

requires the system to check the date on each log statement. If you are asked to extract the logs

by other personnel, they will inform you on which options to choose.

To enter a date, click on the right ‘…’ icon. This will open a calendar through which you can

select the date. Note that if you only want one day of information, enter that day into both the

‘Start Date’ and ‘End Date’.
