DRAFT: BROCADE CONFIDENTIAL
Forwarding can become asymmetric when there are failovers. For example using the topology
shown in Figure 8 the following could occur:
1. the link from the downstream router to ADX-1 goes down.
2. ADX-1 receives a request from the upstream router which is forwarded to the downstream
router via ADX-2
3. The downstream then forwards the response to the upstream router via ADX-2.
4. The forward and reverse flows hit each of the two ServerIron ADXs which means that the traffic
is asymmetric.
Configuring the port pool range for HA
When Active-Active high availability is configured on a ServerIron ADX you can specify the range of
source ports allocated for the NAT IP for each of the NAT64 gateways configured within the HA
setup, This is enabled by the port-pool-range option of the nat64 pool command. The
port-pool-range option enables NAT64 redundancy. A value of 2 specifies a higher priority of the
NAT IP then a value of 1. A value of 2 also indicates that source ports allocated for the NAT IP are
from the higher range.
The following example configures a NAT64 IPv4 NAT address pool with the port-pool-range option
set to a value of 2.
ServerIron ADX(config) nat64 pool nat64-zone1 201.1.1 201.1.1.20 prefix-length 24
port-pool-range 2
For details about configuring the nat64 pool command, see “Configuring an IPv4 NAT address
pool” on page 11.
Enabling inject active only for HA
This command makes sure that only an active ServerIron ADX will inject the static route and the
standby ServerIron ADX will withdraw the static routes. Without this command (default
configuration) both the active and standby ServerIron ADX will inject the route.
ServerIron ADX(config) nat64 inject-active-only
Syntax: [no] nat64 inject-active-only
NOTE
This command only applies to the IPv6-only client to IPv4 resource configuration as described in this
chapter because it is performed is the stateful mode and maintains session relationships.
