Route injection NAT64
2
DRAFT: BROCADE CONFIDENTIAL
For resources that are mapped to the subnet defined by the IPv6 prefix, the nat64 ipv6-prefix
command has an option to identify an interface on the ServerIron ADX (Ethernet or VE). The
interface defined here must have an IPv6 address and should be the interface that is directly
connected to the adjacent router. This subnet defined by the IPv6 prefix is advertised to the
adjacent neighbor by the configured routing protocol and made available in routing tables of the
IPv6 network. The next hop to the subnet is advertised to the IPv6 network as the adjacent router.
Figure 6 shows a typical IPv6-only client to IPv4 resource topology configured with router adjacency
relationships on both the IPv4 and IPv6 sides of the ServerIron ADX. In this configuration, routes
defined by the IPv6 prefix and NAT64 pool are advertised to the adjacent routers and distributed to
the respective networks using the routing protocol configured.

chapters in the ServerIron ADX Switch and Router Guide:

NAT 64 route injection example
The following example configures a ServerIron ADX with NAT64 for route injection into OSPF with
the following required details:
• an IPv6 address is configured: VLAN 1 is configured with VE 7 which has an IPv6 address
(2001:db8:8000::1)
• OSPF and OSPFv6 are configured for static route redistribution
• The IPv4 side is configured as OSPF Area 0 and the IPv6 side is configured as OSPF Area 1
• The nat64 pool command is configured with the inject-static-route option.
• The nat64 ipv6-prefix command is configured with the inject-static-route option which
specifies the ve 7 interface.
For a description of NAT64 route injection see “Route injection NAT64” on page 13.
