c) If a long detachable power-supply cord or extension cord is used,
1) The marked electrical rating of the detachable power-supply
cord or extension cord should be at least as great as the
electrical rating of the appliance,
2) If the appliance is of the grounded type, the extension cord
should be a grounding-type 3-wire cord, and
3) The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape
over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on
by children or tripped over.
Note: If the power supply cord is damaged, it should be replaced
by qualified personnel; in Latin America, by an authorized service
center.
How to Use
This product is for household use only.
GETTING STARTED
• WashallpartsasinstructedinCARE AND CLEANING section.
• Selectalevelsurfacewherethisunitistobeusedallowing
enough space for steam to escape without damage to counters,
cabinets and walls.
• Fillkettlewith4cupscoldtapwaterandbringtoaboil.
Add 2 cups white vinegar, let stand for at least 1 hour or
overnight and discard.
• Fillkettletomaximumlllinewithcoldtapwater.Bringtoboil,
discard and repeat. Kettle is now ready for use.
Note: The kettle only operates when placed on the swivel base
withtheON/OFF(I/O)buttonintheON(I)position.Thekettle
automatically shuts off when water has boiled or there is no water
in the kettle.
FILLING THE KETTLE
1. Remove the kettle from the swivel base.
2. Pull-lid up to open the lid.
3.Fillwithdesiredamountofcoldtapwater.

4.Makesuretheremovablelterisinplaceinsidethepourspout

5.Unwindcordfromswivelbase.
6. Place the kettle securely on the swivel base.
BOILINGWATER
1. Plug cord on the swivel base into standard electrical outlet.
2.PresstheOn/Off(I/O)switchtotheOn(I)position.Thepower
indicator light turns on and the water begins to heat.
3.Whenwaterboils,thekettleandthepowerindicatorlightwill
automatically turn off.
Note: You can also turn the appliance off at any time by lifting the
On/Off(I/O)switchtotheOff(O)position.
Warning:Kettlelledwithboilingwaterishot.Useonlythe
handletopickitup.
Whentakingkettletothetable,carrykettlewithcautiontoavoid
spilling.Setitonatrivetorhotpadtoprotectthetablesurfaceor
tablecloth.
Important:Holdkettlermlywhenpouring,especiallywhen
lledtothemaxllline.Donotpourtoofast.
4.Unplugthekettlewhennotinuse.
Note: This kettle has a boil dry protection feature that
automatically turns the kettle and power indicator light off when
water has boiled or if there is no water in the kettle.
BUILT-INSCALEPROTECTION
Note: Lime scale forms over time in the kettle when water is
heated. Though harmless, it may be bothersome. The concealed
heating element in the kettle is designed to help reduce scale
buildup.Thekettlehasaremovablelteratthebottomofthe
pour spout to prevent particles from pouring into your beverage.
• Alwayshavetheremovablelterinplacejustbehindthespout
when using the kettle.
CareandCleaning
This product contains no user serviceable parts. Refer service to
qualiedservicepersonnel.
CLEANING
1.Beforecleaning,besurethebaseisunpluggedandthekettlehas
cooled completely. Empty any remaining water from the kettle.
2.Pullouttheremovablelterforcleaning.Washthelterinhot,
soapy water and rinse or place it in the utensil holder of the
dishwasher.
3.Washtheinsideofthekettlewithhot,soapywaterandrinse.
Important:Neverimmersethekettleinwaterorotherliquidsor
place in a dishwasher.
4.Wipeexteriorofthekettleandbasewithadampclothorsponge
and dry.
Note: The heating element at the bottom of the interior may
discolor. This will not affect performance. Do not use abrasive soaps,
cleansers, or scouring pads.
Note: Over time, the kettle may heat up but will not boil, depending
onyouruseandthehardnessofthewaterinyourarea.Whenthis
happens,itistimefordescaling.Useascale/limeremoverandfollow
its manufacturer’s directions.
