Working With Your Operating System 45
To set your computer to start up in Mac OS 9 from Mac OS X:
1 Choose System Preferences from the Apple (K) menu and click Startup Disk.
Note: Because Apple frequently releases new versions and updates to its system software,
the version number of the Mac OS X and Mac OS 9 operating systems in this manual may be
different from those installed on your computer.
2 Select the Mac OS 9 folder as your startup System Folder. (If the icons are dimmed, click the
lock icon at the bottom of the pane and type the user name and password that you created
previously in the Setup Assistant. See Welcome to Mac OS X for more information about
logging in as an administrator.)
3 Restart your computer.
