If you can't connect your iPad to your Magic Keyboard, Smart Keyboard, or Smart Keyboard
Folio
Find out what to do if your Magic Keyboard for iPad, Smart Keyboard, or Smart Keyboard Folio doesn't
respond to your typing or trackpad input.*
1. Update your iPad to the latest version of iPadOS (if you're using Magic Keyboard, make sure that
you have iPadOS 13.4 or later).
2. If you're using Magic Keyboard or Smart Keyboard Folio, remove any other iPad case or cover.
3. Connect your Magic Keyboard or Smart Keyboard / Smart Keyboard Folio.
4. If your keyboard doesn't immediately respond, restart your iPad.
5. If your keyboard still doesn't respond, contact Apple Support.
* To use Magic Keyboard or Smart Keyboard Folio, you need an iPad Air (4th generation), iPad Pro 11-
inch (1st or 2nd generation) or iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd or 4th generation). To use Smart Keyboard, you
need an iPad (7th generation or later), iPad Air (3rd generation), iPad Pro 9.7-inch, iPad Pro 10.5-inch, or
iPad Pro 12.9-inch (1st or 2nd generation).
