Set the velocity range in MainStage
By default, the velocity of a channel strip extends from 1 to 127. You can limit the velocity
range so that the channel strip only responds when the notes you play on your controller
fall between the Min and Max values.
Set the velocity range for a channel strip
1. In the MainStage Channel Strips area, select the channel strip.
2. In the Channel Strip Inspector, click the Layer Editor tab.
3. In the Layer Editor, set the minimum velocity that triggers the channel strip using the
Velocity Min value slider. (Drag vertically to change the value, or double-click the value
and enter a new value.)
4. Set the maximum velocity that triggers the channel strip using the Velocity Max value
slider.
Bypass a layer in MainStage
If you want to mute one of the layers in your patch, you can bypass it in the Channel Strips
Inspector.
1. In the MainStage Channel Strips area, select the channel strip.
2. In the Channel Strip Inspector, click the Layer Editor tab.
3. Click the Layer MIDI Input Bypassed checkbox.
The layer darkens in the Layer Editor tab, and the channel strip instrument is bypassed.
Copy and paste layer properties in MainStage
You can copy and paste layer properties. When you copy or paste layer properties, the
following values are copied from (or pasted to) the current layer:
High Key and Low Key
Floating Range Up and Floating Range Down
Velocity Min and Velocity Max
Copying and pasting layer properties can greatly simplify creating multiple layers with the
same key ranges or velocity values. After pasting, values can be edited as with any layer.
Copy properties from the current layer
Choose Copy Layer Properties from the MainStage Instrument Channel Strip Inspector
Action pop-up menu.
Paste properties to the current layer
Choose Paste Layer Properties from the MainStage Instrument Channel Strip Inspector
Action pop-up menu.
