Set the location of the send in the signal flow
In the MainStage Send pop-up menu, choose one of the three signal flow options for the
send.
Post Pan: The signal is sent after the fader and the Pan knob; the send signal is
affected by both channel strip volume and pan adjustments. When a send is Post
Pan, the Send knob ring is green.
Post Fader: The signal is sent after the fader but before the Pan knob; the send
signal is affected by volume adjustments but not pan adjustments. When a send is
Post Fader, the Send knob ring is blue.
Pre Fader: The signal is sent before the fader and Pan knob; the send signal is not
affected by volume or pan adjustments. When a send is Pre Fader, the Send knob
moves to the left of the Send pop-up menu, and the Send knob ring is blue.
Create keyboard layers and splits
Overview of layers and splits in MainStage
If you play a keyboard controller, you can easily create keyboard layers and splits in your
MainStage patches. You create layers and splits by adding two or more channel strips to a
patch and setting the Low Key and High Key for each channel strip to define its key range.
The key range defines the range of notes on a keyboard controller that trigger sound
from a software instrument or external instrument in the channel strip. You can define key
ranges so that they overlap (for layered sounds) or are contiguous (for splits).
Define the key range in MainStage
The Layer Editor tab in the Channel Strip Inspector shows the key range for each channel
strip in a patch and in the concert or set containing the patch (if either includes a channel
strip with a key range). You can define the key range for a channel strip using the layers,
the Learn buttons, or the Low Key and High Key value sliders.
