Reinstalling the Software That Came with Your Mac Pro
UsethesoftwareinstallationdiscsthatcamewithyourMacProtoreinstallMacOSX
andanyapplicationsthatcamewithyourcomputer.Don’tattempttoinstallanearlier
versionofMacOSXonyourMacPro.
Important: Applerecommendsthatyoubackupthedataonyourharddiskbefore
restoringsoftware.Appleisnotresponsibleforanylostdata.
Installing Mac OS X
YoucanreinstallMacOSXandapplicationssuchasAddressBook,iChat,iCal,Mail,
andSafari.
To install Mac OS X:
1 Backupyourimportantles.
2 InserttheMac OS X Install DVDthatcamewithyourcomputer.
3 Double-clickInstallMacOSX.
4 Followtheonscreeninstructions.Inthepanewhereyouarepromptedtoselectadisk,
selectyourcurrentMacOSXharddisk(inmostcases,itwillbetheonlyoneavailable).
5 TocontrolwhichpartsoftheMacOSXareinstalled,clickCustomize,thenselectthe
partsyouwanttoinstall.ClickthedisclosuretrianglenexttoApplicationstoselectthe
checkboxesforanyapplicationsyouwanttoinstall.
6 ClickInstalltostarttheinstallation.
