Mac OS X Server propagates ACL permissions at two well-dened times:
By the kernel at le or folder creation time—when you create a le or folder, the Â
kernel determines what permissions the le or folder inherits from its parent folder.
When initiated by administrator tools—for example, when using the Propagate Â
Permissions option in Server Admin.
The following gure shows how Server Admin propagates two ACEs (managers and
design_team) after ACE creation. Bold text represents an explicit ACE and regular text
an inherited ACE.
