Services and Ports
Appendix
If your server connects to the Internet through a cable router, DSL router, or other
network router, you can congure port forwarding (port mapping) to allow access to
some services from the Internet while protecting other services and other computers
on your network.
Use the following table to determine the port numbers for the services that you want
to expose on the Internet. Congure your router to forward only those ports to your
servers IP address.
Some Internet routers may ask you to specify TCP or UDP for each port, while other
routers don’t. For specic information about how to congure port forwarding on your
router, see its documentation.
If your local network has a separate rewall device and you want to allow access to
some services outside your local network, ask the rewall administrator to open the
rewall for the communications ports and protocols that your services use. Use the
following table to determine the port numbers you need to have opened on the
rewall.
