Apple Remote Desktop 2 is an ideal solution for installing or upgrading software
across multiple Mac systems. Whether its a new version of Mac OS X or a suite of
applications, its easy to keep all of your computers up to date—without interrupting
your users or requiring any user interaction.
Installing Software
Use the Install Packages task pane to choose the software you wish to distribute. If
you have more than one package to install, you don’t have to wait for one installation
to finish before starting the next one: Apple Remote Desktop 2 allows you to specify
multiple applications for successive installation.

Custom install packages
For installation of organization-specific
software, you can create custom install
packages using the Apple Package
Maker utility and then use Apple
Remote Desktop to copy and install
the software to a specified location.
1. List of packages. Packages can be in Apple .pkg and .mpkg formats and are copied
and then installed on targeted computers.
2. Schedule task. Schedule the task for a future date and time or to repeat based on a
given frequency.
3. Target computer list. Provides a summary of how many computers and lists will be
executing the task. To change the target list of computers, click the button and add or
remove computers and computer lists.
4. Save task. Save the task with the current configuration so you can use it later.
5. Add or remove packages. Add or remove packages or drag packages from the Finder
onto the task window.
