SilverFast Ai is high-end scan and imaging software (stand-alone or plug-in)
that sets the standard for ease of control and sophistication for desktop-scan-
ners and digital cameras. Available for more than 120 scanners and digital
cameras under Mac (including OS-X), Windows 95, 98, 2000, and Windows
NT operating systems. SilverFast Ai combines a very intuitive user interface
with a sophisticated and professional control. Beginners and professionals
will appreciate the unique real-time controls and the intelligent automatic
functions as well as the possibility to manually adjust the image at any
point. Predictable color from the SilverFast Ai preview gives imaging and

◆ All image manipulations such as grada-
tion, global and selective color correc-
tions are applied by a slider control. This
control updates the image in real time as
you drag the mouse.
◆ Ai stands for Artificial Intelligence. At a
click of a button, Ai's automatic image
enhance button can optimize your image.
With image type pre-selection, the intelli-
gence of SilverFast's automatic image can
be accommodated to different motives of
the image (i.e. a sunset)
◆ Strong hissing or noise can be generated
by some scanners in the shadow areas of
images. SilverFast’s multi-sampling fea-
ture removes the noise by averaging it
out across the multiple scans performed.
◆ Drag & drop your scans right from the
SilverFast Ai prescan window directly to
another application such as MS Word or
the Mac scrapbook or desktop!
◆ Match the preview image to the final
image in Photoshop—there is no color
drift with SilverFast Ai’s color manage-
ment system. You simply set SilverFast to
keep its working space identical to
Photoshop's. You can even embed the
working color profile into Photoshop.

tor and printer, and the capability to
embed color profiles into your final
scans, SilverFast Ai enables professional
color accuracy using the latest OS tech-
nologies (ColorSync 3 and ICM 2.0 com-
patible). Rendering intent is another

profiles are applied to the image. This
can be further enhanced using the IT-8
calibration option

EPSF, DCS, and JPEG. You can either scan
or batch scan directly into these file for-
mats, bypassing Photoshop completely.

responds 1:1 with the CMYK-preview in
PhotoShop—making production of per-
fect color-printing as easy as ever!
◆ Creation of a selective color correction
mask means you aren’t restricted to
affecting your entire scan frame. Instead
an individual correction can be applied
to a small portion of the image, while the
rest of the image is untouched.
◆ Display up to 4 denistometers allowing 4
unique measurements of the image to be
displayed simultaneously.
◆ Allows the prescan window to be per-
manently converted to a CMYK color
simulation. With softproof switched on,
a single color separation can be repre-
sented at a time. This allows you to
view the individual C, M, Y, K channels.
◆ Supports inches, centimeters, picas,
points, and pixels. Points and pixels are
really handy for web designers.
◆ Sharpness functions are optimized so
that high-end sharpness quality is
gained. Unsharp-Masking-Preview allows
the sharpness of the final scan to be
monitored. This guarantees the user to
get a maximum of professional sharp-
ness without trial and error.
◆ As with all other image enhancement
functions, it's best to do the unsharp
masking function in SilverFast where the
highest bit-depth is obtained. SilverFast
allows a before/after preview to see the
best results right before your eyes.
◆ SilverFast Ai histogram can be split into
three color channels. This allows for
easier viewing and adjustment image-
wide. Full control over the image, allows
you to make the finest adjustments.
◆ Allows you to control the intensity of
the removal of the color cast. Simply
adjust the slider to set the intensity of
the removal. Want to reduce the cast of
your image, yet preserve some of the
sunset? This is where slider works well.
