Step Editor
The Step Editor displays notes or controller events for selected MIDI regions as beams in a user-
dened time grid. You can easily add or edit note velocities or other controller data (making
some editing tasks, such as data scaling, much faster), or quickly create and edit MIDI drum parts.

Lane parameters: Determine the type of event displayed or modied. When you select a row in
the name column, its event denition is shown in the Lane inspector.

MIDI events: Represented by vertical beams in a time grid. Controller values, note velocity, and
other values are indicated by the height of each beam (taller beams indicate higher values).
Open the Step Editor
m Double-click a MIDI region in the Tracks area, then click Step Editor.
Open the Step Editor as a separate window
Do one of the following:
m Choose Window > Open Step Editor (or press Command-5).
m Drag the Step Editor by its title bar out from below the Tracks area.
