Chapter 16 Mix a project 530
Use the I/O Labels window
You can use the I/O Labels window to dene names for all channel strip Input, Output, and Send
menu items, which can be used in place of defaults such as “Input 1” or “Output 8.”
Open the I/O Labels window
Do one of the following:
m Choose Mix > I/O Labels.
m Choose Options > I/O Labels from the Mixer menu bar.
Choose a device from the Device pop-up menu, if you have multiple audio interfaces. I/O labels
can be individually dened for each hardware driver type, but are valid for all projects. These
labels are stored in a separate le, located in the ~/Library/Application Support/Logic folder. The
le is called “IOLabels xxx” (where xxx is the name of the hardware type).
Edit the labels for Input, Output, and Send slots
1 Select the button in the User column.
2 Double-click the “-” in the Long (name) column, enter a new name, then press Return.
3 Repeat the process for the Short (name) column.
The short name is used in the Send slots.
Revert to default labels
Do one of the following:
m Click the corresponding button in the Channel column.
m Choose one of the following from the Reset pop-up menu:
Reset All Labels
Reset Input Labels
Reset Output Labels
Reset Bus Labels
Use the labels provided by the hardware driver
m Click the corresponding button in the Provided by Driver column.
