Sort, group, and rename audio les
The Project Audio Browser lists all audio les in your project, along with information about le
sampling rate, bit depth, format (mono/stereo), and size. Within the Project Audio Browser, you
can sort, group, and rename your audio les.
Hide or show le information in the Project Audio Browser
m Choose View > Show File Info from the Project Audio Browser menu bar.
Sort audio les
m Choose one of the following from View > Files sorted by:
None: Sorts the audio les in the order they were loaded or recorded.
Name: Sorts the audio les in alphabetical order.
Size: Sorts the audio les by size, with larger les at the top of the list.
Drive: Sorts the audio les by storage medium.
Bit depth: Sorts the audio les by bit depth, in decreasing order.
File type: Sorts the audio les by le type.
Group audio les
Do one of the following:
m Select the les you want to group, choose View > Create Group, enter a name in the Name eld,
then press Enter.
m Select the les you want to group, then choose one of the following from View > Group Files by:
Location: Creates groups that are alphabetically sorted by the names of the parent folders of
selected les. Folder names are automatically used as group names.
File Attributes: Creates groups based on the attributes of selected les (le type, stereo/mono,
bit depth). Group names are displayed as a summary of the le attributes—16 bit Mono AIFF,
for example).
Selection In Tracks: Creates groups based on regions selected in the Tracks area. Group names
are based on the rst of the selected regions.
Delete a group of audio les
m Select a group, then choose View > Delete Selected Groups (or press Delete).
The audio les of deleted groups reappear at the top of the list in the Project Audio Browser.
Rename audio les
m Double-click a lename in the list, enter a name in the Name eld, then press Enter.
The audio le is renamed in all currently opened projects that use the le. Any backup les on
the same disk drive are also renamed.
