Connecting overview
You can use Logic Pro with a wide variety of audio and MIDI devices, including microphones,
keyboards and other musical instruments, mixers, and other audio equipment.
To connect audio devices to your computer, you can use an audio interface. Keyboards and
other MIDI devices can be connected directly, or using a MIDI interface. Some audio and MIDI
interfaces require that you install a device driver before opening Logic Pro, so the application can
nd and use the device at startup.

Connect audio devices
Audio devices overview
Logic Pro works with Core Audio–compliant audio devices, including Thunderbolt, FireWire,
USB, ExpressCard, and PCI audio interfaces. You can connect microphones, electric musical
instruments, and other musical equipment to your computer, or to an audio interface or other
audio device. Logic Pro supports input from digital audio interfaces up to a maximum sample
rate of 192 kHz, and a maximum bit depth of 24 bits.
If you use an audio interface to connect instruments or other audio devices, check the
manufacturer’s specications to make sure the interface is compatible with the Mac OS X version
required by Logic Pro. Also make sure the audio interface uses a format supported by your
computer. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions, which may include installing the correct driver
on your computer. Check the documentation that came with the device, and the manufacturer’s
website, for more information.
Logic Pro automatically recognizes any installed Core Audio hardware, and uses the default
settings as dened in the Audio MIDI Setup utility (Applications/Utilities/Audio MIDI Setup).
However, you may want to optimize the settings for your individual hardware setup, particularly
if you use several audio interfaces or a multiple input/output device. If possible, you should avoid
using dierent audio devices for input and output.
