Note: Region-based automation is effectively the same as MIDI Draw in previous versions
of Logic Pro. If you had MIDI Draw data in a project created in a previous version of
LogicPro, it appears as region-based automation data.
Show automation or MIDI controller data in the Piano Roll
Editor
In Logic Pro, click the Show/Hide Automation button in the Piano Roll Editor menu
bar.
An Automation button, an Automation Cycle Through button, and an Automation/
MIDI Parameter pop-up menu appear at the bottom of the Piano Roll Editor inspector.
Any existing automation or MIDI data for the selected parameter is displayed in the
Automation/MIDI lane under the main editor window.
Show track-based automation data in the MIDI/Automation
area
1. In Logic Pro, if the Automation button is not already set to Track, click the button.
2. Choose the desired automation parameter from the Automation/MIDI Parameter pop-up
menu.
