Audio Settings
General Audio Settings in Logic Pro
General Audio settings are used to determine the audio behavior in Logic Pro.
• Sample Rate pop-up menu: Use to choose the sample rate for the project.
• Apple Loops: High Quality checkbox: This setting enables a newer, better sounding
Apple Loops playback algorithm introduced with Logic Pro X 10.4. The setting is
disabled when opening projects created in older versions of Logic to ensure they sound
like they did originally.
When Additional Surround Options is selected in Advanced preferences, the following
menu is available:
• Surround Format pop-up menu: Use to choose the surround format for the project.
When Show Advanced Tools is selected in Advanced preferences, the following settings
are available:
• Pan Law pop-up menu: Signals panned to the center position may sound louder than
signals panned hard left or right. The Pan Law value determines the amount of volume
reduction on signals that are panned to the center. You can choose from the following
settings:
• 0dB: With no change to the volume level, signals seem louder when panned to the
center position, in comparison with extreme left or right pan positions.
• –3dB: A full scale signal (0dBfs) has a level of –3dB when panned to the center
position.
• –3dB compensated: A full scale signal (0dBfs) has a level of 0dB when panned to
the center position (or +3dB when panned to the extreme left or right positions).
• -4.5 dB: A full scale signal (0dBfs) has a level of –4.5dB when panned to the center
position
• -4.5 dB compensated: A full scale signal (0dBfs) has a level of 0dB when panned to
the center position (or +4.5dB when panned to the extreme left or right positions).
• -6 dB: A full scale signal (0dBfs) has a level of –6dB when panned to the center
position
• -6 dB compensated: A full scale signal (0dBfs) has a level of 0dB when panned to
the center position (or +6dB when panned to the extreme left or right positions).
• Apply Pan Law Compensation to Stereo Balancers checkbox: Applies Pan Law
compensation to Stereo Balance controls.
