Chapter 5 Recording MIDI
Replace Recording MIDI
Replace recording is the process of erasing all or part of a previous performance while
recording a new one. You’ll do this by recording in Replace mode.
Try This
Record over an existing MIDI region in Replace mode:
Click the Replace button on the Transport bar.1
Replace button
Cycle button
Make sure that Cycle mode is turned on.2
Press the Return key while Logic Pro is not playing. 3
The playhead moves to the project start position.
Press the Asterisk (*) or R key to start recording.4
Recording will begin after the predened count-in.
Use your MIDI keyboard (or the Logic Pro Caps Lock keyboard) to play some notes.5
A new MIDI region is created on top of the existing one.
Press the Space bar to stop recording.6
Your new recording replaces whatever portion of the previous material you recorded
over, repeating the process for each cycle pass if recording in Cycle mode.
