The computer doesn’t seem to know that there is an
AppleCD 300i drive.
Be sure to restart your computer after reinstalling the CD
software.
Check that each SCSI device attached to your computer has a
unique SCSI ID number. The SCSI ID number of your internal
CD-ROM drive is 3. The ID number for other devices often
appears on the back near the SCSI ports (on Apple devices.) Refer
to the device’s owner’s manual if you need to reset SCSI ID
numbers.
Your computer won’t restart after you’ve copied software
for the AppleCD 300i to the System Folder.
If you attempt to install the software for the AppleCD 300i without
using the Installer as described in “Setting Up Your CD-ROM
Software,” you may not be able to restart your computer. Restart
from a floppy disk and install the software according to the
instructions in that section.
Problems inserting or ejecting a caddy
v Note: If you are unable to insert or eject a caddy even after
following the suggestions here, contact your authorized Apple
dealer or service provider. v
The caddy is not being loaded into the drive.
Shut down your computer and then turn it back on. Try to load
the disc by pushing the caddy gently into the drive.
The caddy is not being ejected far enough to remove
it easily.
Shut down your computer and then turn it back on. Select the
CD-ROM icon on the desktop and choose Eject from the File
menu, or drag the icon to the Trash.
