Kurzweil 3000 for Macintosh Network Guide 63
B Removing the USB
License Key
Drivers
Whenever you install a Kurzweil 3000 Network Engine, you also install
Aladdin Knowledge Systems HASP 4 driver software. This software enables
the Administrator to transfer licenses to and from the USB License key.
Without the drivers, the Administrator cannot access the license key.
The drivers are also installed when you use the Administrator on a computer
that does not have an Engine installed, to transfer licenses to or from a
remote Engine.
When you uninstall an Engine, the driver software is not removed. This is
intentional, as you might have other software that uses these drivers, and
removing them could make that software inoperable. So, if you have other
software that uses a USB key, you should determine whether it also uses
HASP 4 drivers before uninstalling the drivers.
While there is no harm in leaving the drivers installed, you still might want to
uninstall them in accordance with routine maintenance procedures.
If you do uninstall the drivers and find that you actually did need them, for
another application, you will need the proper installer program to reinstall
them. You can either refer to the other application’s documentation, for
information on reinstalling the drivers, or you can go to the Aladdin
Knowledge Systems Website (http://www.aks.com) and download the latest
installer.
