Chapter 2. Installing the Kurzweil 3000 Network
Kurzweil 3000 for Macintosh Network Guide 11
General Steps for Network Installation
There are four general steps to setting up a Kurzweil 3000 Network. They
should be performed in the following sequence:
1. Make sure that the computer that is going to act as the Kurzweil 3000
Network Engine is accessible over the network, and that it is running
Macintosh Version 10.4
(Tiger) to 10.6 (Snow Leopard).
Note: You do not have to install the Kurzweil 3000 Network Engine on the
same computer as your primary Local Area Network (LAN) server
software. The Network Engine should be installed on a Macintosh that is
up and running at all times for users to access it. Also, the Network
Engine machine should be in a location that is physically inaccessible to
all but administrative personnel.
2. Install the Kurzweil 3000 Network Engine software. For more information,
see Installing the Kurzweil 3000 Engine and Product Licenses on page
14.
3. Install Kurzweil 3000 licences.
4. Install the Kurzweil 3000 client software on each computer on which you
want to run Kurzweil 3000. For more information, see Installing Kurzweil
3000 on Client Computers on page 22.
5. Install the Cepstral speaking voices.
6. Install and configure the Mozilla Firefox browser.
Note: It is recommended that a person with networking experience install the
Kurzweil 3000 Network.
