Chapter 1. Understanding the Kurzweil 3000 Network
Kurzweil 3000 for Macintosh Network Guide 7
License Management Using the USB License Key
When your organization purchases a Kurzweil 3000 for Macintosh Version 4
Network product—Kurzweil 3000 Professional Color, Kurzweil 3000
Professional Black and White, or Kurzweil 3000 LearnStation—the floating
licenses for the product(s) come on a USB License Key (License Key)
included with the product package.
The License Key is essentially a memory chip that you insert into a USB port
on the Kurzweil 3000 network engine computer.
You transfer the desired number of floating licenses from the License Key to
the Kurzweil 3000 network engine (this can be a good way to “ration” the
licenses) and transfer them back to the License Key as necessary. See
Determining License Requirements on page 49.
Caring for and Replacing Your USB License Key
As the USB License Key is a small object, it’s easy to misplace. Each License
Key comes with an identifying keychain. We strongly suggest that you use it.
Also, make sure to keep the License Key in a safe and secure place at all
times.
You might also want to consider limiting access to the License Key to a small
group of authorized persons. Make sure to keep track of the License Key's
location when circulating it through your organization. DO NOT discard the
License Key before contacting Kurzweil Educational Systems
If lost, a replacement License Key is available for a fee plus $5.00 shipping
fee. To request a replacement, call Customer Service at 1-800-894-5374 or
1-781-276-0600.
When or if you need changes to your licenses, this License Key can be
reloaded with the new set at no charge. Call Customer Service at the above
number for details.
