Restarting the Media Indexer Service on a Mac OS X System
This section describes how to restart the Media Indexer service. Note that every time you restart
the Avid editing application in Media Composer v7.0 on a Windows system, the system
automatically restarts the Media Indexer service. On a Mac OS X system you must manually
restart the service.
To restart the Media Indexer process from a Terminal window:
1. Open a terminal window and navigate to the Media Indexer/bin directory as follows:
cd /Applications/Avid/Media\ Indexer/bin
2. Type the following commands in the bin directory:
sudo ./mi.sh remove
sudo ./mi.sh install
where:
- sudo instructs the system to run the command as “super user” or root.
- the characters ./ instruct the system to “run the following command that resides in the
current directory”.

You must have an Administrator login to perform commands that begin with “sudo.

The Interplay Web Services SDK provides third parties with a rich set of functions to integrate
tightly with an Interplay environment.For more information, read the documentation that is
installed with the SDK.
Before installing Interplay Web Services, install and configure the Avid Service Framework. See
“Selecting the 32-Bit or 64-Bit Version of Avid Service Framework” on page 31.
To install Interplay Web Services
1. Select the following from the Interplay Server Installer Main Menu:
Avid SDKs > Interplay Web Services
After the installer starts, the Introduction dialog box opens.
2. Accept the license agreement and follow the installation instructions.
