An I-frame (intra-coded picture) is one type of
frame used to define the GOP (Group of
Pictures) pattern used during MPEG-2 or
H.264 encoding. A GOP pattern can also
include P-frames (predictive coded picture)
and B-frames (bipredicitive coded picture).
