Monitor power and screen appearance
IMPORTANT
Detailed instructions for Apple Displays software are provided in
Macintosh Guide (called Mac OS Guide on some computers) a nd in Monitors
& Sound Guide. For Windows users, detailed instructions about onscreen
controls are provided in Chapter 3, “Usi ng Your Monitor With Windows-
Based Computers.”
The monitor’s power indicator light doesn’t come on.
m Make sure the monitor power button is turn ed on.
m Make sure the computer is tur ned on.
The monitor’s power indicator light won’t tur n green unless your computer
is on.
m Make sure an en ergy saver program isn’t active on the computer.
For the 20-inch monitor (19-inch VIS), the monitor’s i ndicator light is
amber when an energ y s aver program is on. Als o, it ma y tak e some t im e to
wake up y our c omputer a fter you use an ener gy saver. For t he 17-inch monitor
(16.1-inc h VIS), the monit or’s indic ator li ght is o ff in energy-sav ing m ode.
m Make sure the power cord is plugged in properly.
If the monitor power cord is plugged into your computer, make sure your
computer is on and the cord is firmly plugged in.
If the monitor power cord is plugged into a grounded wall outlet, make sure
th e cord is firm ly plugged in. Check to see whether power to the outlet has
been interr upted. You can test the outlet by plugging in something that you
know works—li ke a desk lamp or radio. If the test appliance works, but the
monitor do esn’t, contact an Apple-authorized dealer or service provider.
m Make sure the monitor cable is connected to your computer properly.
m Make sure the thumbscrews on th e monitor cable are tightened securely.
