5. If the number of subpixel anomalies is acceptable, explain to the customer that the
pixel anomalies are within specifications, and no repair is necessary.
Important:
Do not release the specifications to customers. Instead, inform them that
a certain number of subpixel anomalies is considered acceptable, and these factors
apply to all manufacturers using LCD technology—not just Apple products.
Display shows scrambled or distorted video
Note:
This symptom could also appear as
• unexpected lines on the screen
• intermittent video image
• video "freeze"
• blank screen on startup
1. Remove any connected peripheral devices.
2. Connect an external display and check if the video distortion still exists.
• If the distortion still exists, replace the logic board.
• If the distortion is not present, go to the next step.
Important:
Before ordering or replacing the logic board, read the Additional
Procedures chapter for information on board identification.
3. Check the LVDS cable and LCD panel cable for a pinched or damaged cable or poor
connection.
• If the LVDS cable is damaged, replace it.
• If the LCD panel cable is damaged, replace the LCD panel.
• If the cables are undamaged, make sure the connectors are fully seated.
4. Remove memory card (if present).
5. Check other cable connections (inverter, backlight, etc.).
6. Replace logic board.

Video (S-Video and Composite adapter)
No video on an external device
1. Make sure you are using the S-Video and Composite adapter cable.
2. Verify TV or VCR is set up properly with correct source.
