DESCRIPTION: APOC
®
246 ENERGY-ARMOR
™
Heavy Duty Elastomeric Roof Coating is
a highly exible and reective 12 year white acrylic roof coating. This product resists
cracking and peeling while reecting heat and UV rays away from roof surfaces
to extend roof life. By reducing heat build-up and heat transfer, temperatures and
thermal shock are greatly reduced which helps prevent cracks, splits and other
roof damage. The elastomeric properties of APOC 246 allow for expansion and
contraction with roof movements, extending roof life and reducing maintenance
costs. Additionally, the reective properties of APOC 246 drastically reduce rooftop
temperatures, helping to reduce heat transfer into your home or building which
can assist in reducing energy consumption and lower cooling costs. Note: Make
all repairs before applying coating.
PREPARATION: Download the APOC APP for detailed installation instructions,
videos, tips and specications. Completely read all application instructions
and check weather conditions prior to starting any work. All surfaces must be
completely clean, dry, have proper drainage and be free of surface rust, dust
and any other foreign matter or debris. Rusty metal must be cleaned with a wire
brush and primed with a rust converting primer before application of this product.
Surfaces with mildew growth or stains must be cleaned with a bleach solution (two-
parts water to one-part bleach) prior to applying this product. Rinse thoroughly.
Pressure washing entire surface is recommended (use only a wide fan tip - do
not allow stream to tear into roof surface). Repair all leaks and cracks BEFORE
applying any coating. Make repairs with polyester reinforcing fabric and APOC
264 Flash N’ Seal® or use APOC Incredible® Fleece-Top® Tape as an alternate
repair. Allow repair to cure according to product directions before application of
roof coating. Surfaces previously coated with aluminum, asphalt or tar should be
allowed to cure for a minimum of one summer season prior to coating. Do not
heat or thin. DO NOT APPLY WHEN RAIN OR HEAVY DEW IS EXPECTED WITHIN
24 HOURS OF APPLICATION COMPLETION.
FALL PROTECTION WARNING: Always use personal fall protection devices and follow
procedures in accordance with OSHA and local regulatory requirements when
walking or working on roofs. Use safety equipment such as tie-offs, safety lines,
body harnesses, toe boards and ladders. Dusty, damp or wet conditions, as well
as certain shoes can result in slippery surfaces and create a fall hazard. Always
be cognizant of where you are in relation to your surroundings including but not
limited to: the edge of the roof, any projections, skylights and any other objects
which could cause you to slip or fall. Falling from a roof can result in serious harm
or death.
APPLICATION: For exterior use only. Protective clothing, gloves, and eyewear should
be used during application of this product. Always apply on a clear, warm sunny
day. Apply in morning hours to allow maximum cure time. Application should be
completed a minimum of 4 hours prior to sunset. Temperatures must be above
55 °F (for 24 hours) and rising, but not above 110 °F. Apply with a 3/4” nap
exterior paint roller or professional airless sprayer. First, apply one coat over all
seams and joints. Allow to cure for one hour or until dry, then apply two (2) uniform
coats, avoiding excessive rolling. Two coats are required for all applications. Dries
for recoat in 4 - 6 hours and fully cures in 24 - 36 hours at 70 °F & 50% relative
humidity. Higher humidity, thicker lms, poor air ow and lower temperatures
will increase dry times. Contact APOC for specications and requirements. If
roof contains areas where water gathers, apply an extra base layer of coating and
reinforce with a layer of polyester reinforcement. Not recommended for ponding
water conditions where poor drainage exists.
SPRAY INFO: 2000 - 3000 PSI, .030 - .041 Tip Size, 1 - 3 GPM.
COVERAGE RATE: 1.5 gallons per 100 sq. ft., per coat. See application instructions.
NOTE: If roof becomes hot (over 100 °F) during application, lightly mist roof
surface with water spray to prevent coating from drying too fast. Remove any
excess or puddling water prior to coating. If roof surfaces become soiled as they
age, elastomeric can be cleaned with a mild water and bleach solution. Excessive
scrubbing should be avoided.
STORAGE & HANDLING PRECAUTIONS: Do NOT allow packaged product to FREEZE.
Do not heat or thin. Keep container sealed when not in use. For maximum shelf life
store between 50 °F and 80 °F. Storage at temperatures above 90 °F will reduce
shelf life. Tightly seal container after opening and when not in use. Always keep
product covered, out of direct sunlight and protected from the elements. When
transporting this product, ensure that the lid is tight and pail secure and upright.
Do not allow pail to tumble as this may cause lid to loosen and leakage to occur.
Do not transport on passenger seats or inside the passenger compartment of any
vehicle. Store product in the cargo area of vehicle, and secure on top of 6 mil
plastic sheeting to prevent damage due to accidental spills or loosening of lids.
CLEAN-UP: Clean tools with soap and water.
