AP-1 Green-Seal
®
Lifetime Heavy Duty Construction
Sealant & Adhesive is an all-purpose, paintable, structural adhesive
and sealant that can be used in a wide variety of industrial, commercial
and residential applications. AP-1 Green-Seal is a moisture cure, hybrid
technology that can be used for roong, solar, HVAC, siding, general
construction, landscaping, plumbing and many other applications. AP-1
Green-Seal bonds to most building materials including glass, wood, masonry,
block, asphalt shingles, tile, aged single plies, insulation, foam, aluminum,
metal and many other substrates. Not recommended on smooth surfaced
asphalt. It forms a highly exible, elastic and waterproof seal, exceeding
the rigorous demands of the professional contractor. It performs under the
toughest conditions, including extreme rain, desert heat, freeze thaw cycles
and sub-zero temperatures. Engineered with sustainability in mind, Green-
Seal is isocyanate free and low VOC. It provides a safer, stronger and superior
application with minimal impact on the environment. AP-1 Green-Seal is
specially designed and optimized for maximum performance, providing
peace of mind to contractors, building owners and homeowners alike. Green-
Seal is sustainable by design and engineered to outperform.
PREPARATION: For detailed application instructions, download the APOC
APP, or visit www.apoc.com. Completely read all application instructions
and check weather conditions prior to starting any work. If moisture or dew
is present, product will bond, however use only as a topical or temporary
repair to avoid water entrapment. All surfaces should have proper drainage,
be clean, dry and free from all dirt, grease, debris, rust, release agents or
other contamination that may prevent proper bonding or reduce the sealant’s
performance. Clean surfaces using appropriate cleaner for substrate.
Isopropyl alcohol or other approved cleaners may be used to clean and
prepare surface prior to application. Surface and air temperatures must be
above 32 °F (for 24 hours) and rising, but not above 110 °F.
FOR BEST RESULTS: Sealant should be stored at room temperature prior to
application. This will provide the opportunity for correct tooling and proper
adhesion for application in cold temperatures or where moisture may be
present. Once container is opened, use all product right away. Opened
product will immediately begin to cure from surrounding moisture in contact
with the sealant and / or from humidity in the air.
FALL PROTECTION WARNING: Always use personal fall protection devices
and follow procedures in accordance with OSHA and local regulatory
requirements when walking or working on roofs. Use safety equipment such
as tie-offs, safety lines, body harnesses, toe boards and ladders. Dusty, damp
or wet conditions as well as certain shoes can result in slippery surfaces
and create a fall hazard. Always be cognizant of where you are in relation
to your surroundings, including but not limited to: the edge of the roof, any
projections, skylights and any other objects which could cause you to slip or
fall. Falling from a roof can result in serious harm or death.
APPLICATION: Protective clothing, gloves and eyewear should be used during
application of these products. Apply with a caulking gun. Trim nozzle to
desired bead size, puncture foil seal at inner base inside the nozzle and
load into caulk gun. While applying sealant, hold nozzle at a 45° angle,
pushing sealant into gap. Sealant may be brushed or troweled to desired
nish. All joints should utilize a backer rod that is 25% larger than the joint
opening. Other approved bond breakers may also be used to ensure proper
movement of joint. All joints must be installed according to ASTM and SWRI
recommendations and guidelines. Design all joints with a depth to width ratio
of 1:2 (joint width should be 2X the joint depth). Can be coated or painted
and fully cures in 48 hours at 70 °F & 50% relative humidity. Low humidity,
thicker lms, poor air ow and lower temperatures will increase dry times.
DO NOT THIN.
LIMITATIONS: Avoid substrates/joints contaminated with grease, wax and
/ or corrosion. Long term exposure to corrosive chemicals may result in
deterioration of sealant. A compatibility test must be performed if used in
conjunction or close proximity with another sealant.
